I just picked up my doner car drove it four hours home and I can't wait to tear into it. I will try not to ask to many questions as I have read most of the threads on here. I will keep every one posted on the build and post pictures.

88 Ford Ranger, 5.0 motor from 88 T-bird, AOD tranny.

This will be a total frame off project. Wish me luck.

Sounds good. You can likely use every part off that donor. (mounts, oilpan, etc.)

Take pictures of everything, you'll be glad you did.

Ah, it does use a different mount. Must have a plate on it... I was assuming fox chassis...

Sorry about that.

Question: Have you read enough to be talked out of buying a swap kit?

I believe that the only parts that I will need to buy are shorty headers, oil filter relocator and engine mounts. I could be wrong but I will see as I go.

I have checked out your thread and was impressed. if I have missed something I hope I get a responce from someone on here to head me in the right direction.

That sounds about right to me.
Some of the other guys know more about shorty headers than I do. I used tri-Y's , they were very simple.

I will have to look into them when the time comes. so much to do, never tried pulling a vehicle all the way down to the frame before, but I think it will come out looking great. just have to keep the wife happy. Just retired after 22 years in the army so I will have time.

Drivers side shorty will hit the P-steering,go with the tri's.
Passenger side collector will have issues with the frame,go with the tri's.

these critters are stupid easy to work with.

my truck can be bare rails in a matter of hours.

Hey Project T-Ranger - Congrats on retiring! You may think you will have spare time but don't count on it. Good luck with the project, good bunch of people here to answer all the questions.

Copperhead-

Thanks for the advice I called on thr tri-y's today sounds like the way to go thanks again.

You'll have to modify the Tri-Y's to clear the AOD bell. There's a trade off in almost every choice of headers though.

What kind of modification is there to do. I wont be ready for a few months but still trying to get all the pieces and information together.

Talked to L&L the other day they told me that there headers will fit as long as I use there engine mounts, has any one tried this or are they feeding me a line of bull.

I really like the Tri-Y's.

Don't know exactly what's needed, but it shouldn't be that hard to do.
