okay, well 1st gen ranger. "brake" is lit up on my instrument cluster

it normally just came on (sometimes, not all the time) when i set my e-brake. now it's on for good it seems like, it's been lit up everytime i turn the truck on, and i tried setting my e-brake then letting it release, doesn't solve it.

is it a code reader issue? corroded wires? grounding issue? e-brake cable/pedal issue?

check the switch that is up in the park brake pedal assembly.

then make sure the brake fluid is full.. if its low top it off with DOT 3 only

with a voltmeter or an ohmmeter.

voltmeter:
there are 2 wires coming off the switch, with the park brake pedal released there should only be voltage at 1 wire- do this check with the switch plugged in.

ohmmeter: remove the connector from the switch and put your 2 probes on the pins of the switch, it should say OL
