:icon_bounceblue:87 2.9l swapped out to an 88 2.9l need some advice

HI Good day, I'm new to the site, I like it. I know that you will get me back on the road. I'm swapping an 88 2.9l into my 87 bronco2witch had the same power plant. Does the ecm brain computer and harness follow that 88, I know that 88,89 didn't have the EGR thing going on. I put my 87 manifold TB and injectors. removed the egr valve put a plate on it and plug the exhaust, this is where I get !!@#@#$$%^up. my fuel relay is giving me trouble I can't get any power at the fp and I checked the inertia switch dead also , so I ran a hot jumper into that . I also would like to know where the 2 vacuum lines go that are at the bottom of the air filter box. one comes from the manifold to that base but which one and then from that one where. also we still utilize the map sensor ? does the fuel canister still plug in under the tb between the pvc and crank breather. where having a hard time to get it to run or stay running so any advice is a good thing if someone there has a step by step way of smooth transition I'd jump for joy thanks so much ,gizzaf :icon_bounceblue:

Welcome to TRS :)

If you are just swapping over the engine not the wiring harness then FP Relay won't be effected, shouldn't even if you swapped over wiring harness and computer

Good page to bookmark here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/index.shtml

FP gets power from a fuse or fusible link in the engine fuse box(30amp) or if fusible link it is attached to the Starter Relay(solenoid) on the inner fender
This gives FP Relay power all the time but that power can't go to inertia switch until FP Relay is closed
The GREEN base relay is the fuel pump relay, pull relay out of the base
Key OFF
Test each slot in the Base for 12v, test light or volt meter
If there is no 12volt then fuse or fusible link is blown

Vacuum hoses on air filter box goes to intake manifold and Warm Air valve
There is a heat shield on the exhaust manifold connected to a tube that goes to a Valve for In Coming air into the air box.
When engine is cold that valve is activated and warmer air from around the exhaust manifolds is used to heat up engine faster than cold air could
Part in the air box is a temp sensors that sends vacuum to the warm air valve
It is good to have but many delete it

The Ported Vacuum on throttle body is used for EVAP system, charcoal canister purge valve

Yes, 1987 or '88 2.9l used MAP sensors

yes i did bring over the 88 harness and comp

thanks i'm going out to work on it this weekend. I'll let you know if I run into any quirks .:icon_bounceblue:
