87 ranger air conditioner

I don't see why not. There was factory installed AC for the 87 2.0 as well as dealer/aftermarket installed.

They will probably laugh you out of there man, try a junkyard for the a/c HVAC controls, heater/air box, ect. Might be better off buying a reman or new compressor and condensor and lines from a parts store. It will not be in any shape or form cheap. It could even be cheaper yet to buy another ranger with air conditioning. At least buy one for the parts needed.

You could probably find everythng you need at the junkyard. I always see a lot of first generation Rangers when I go. I would, however, buy a new compressor and a new receiver/dryer rather than using junkyard parts for those. The rest would depend on your skills as far as installing it a getting it working. I'm a licensed HVAC/MVAC tech and let me just say that the level of difficulty depends on the vehicle. Some are easier than others. I've never done a 87 Ranger so I can't really advise there. My 90 has working AC. I've never had to do any work on it but the system doesn't look that complicated (to me).
