87 4.9 300 won’t start

Picked it up yesterday but didn’t take the Ford. I’ve been neglecting this dodge by letting it sit. Washed her up and hit the road. My house is starting to look like a junkyard!
i know, my F250 barely moves anymore. It pry sees 50 mi a month lol.

Used the truck to haul a trailer and roller Chevy ii yesterday. At one point truck would start back up, I was furious as it’s been working great for so long. It was hot outside and ac/blower had been cranking. Neither was on when trying to start though.

Did it crank but not start? Or not crank?

Running headers?

Not sure if it was an issue on I6's but the V8s (espicially 460s) with headers would heat soak the starter and cause it not to spin if you were working hard.

It cranked slowly just wouldn’t start. After 3 tries I used a jump box before I killed the battery and it started right up.
