86 V6 Diesel Eco Stroke Build

Wow, that sure looks wide. hows is the fitment looking so far?.
I would love 35+ MPG out of a Explorer or Ranger, any idea what kind of mileage are your expecting?

why are you keeping the egr?

I second the width on that one. What's the dimensions and specs on that?

Man that thing is wide, I hope you see this through to completion and make a lengthy tech page

This gonna be a cool build for sure. As I was scrolling I caught a glimpse of that old crew cab. Id love to stick a diesel in one of those. Keep up the good work!

Running all Bulletproof Products. Hope someday to maybe get some sponsorships, but their products last. Never had a failure in my '05 in 5 years of running one.

Sorry not sure how I missed the update on comments. Gotta check the trash. Width fit nice. PS Pump was touching so ditched and will run a smaller more efficient PSC or Howe. Other than that I'll have to modify the water pump housing to dump forward (better anyways for routing) and driver valve cover hit the OE Booster but was planning on running HydroBoost anyways.

I'll be happy with 30-35 Mpg but am going to shoot for 40. Running either 3.00-3.30 gears. Had to ditch the OE Early Bronco 44 up front due to diff being 4" too centered. Will order a custom 9" low pinion OE early Bronco WMS just 4" to drive on the diff. Plan on running some modified James Duff front arms with Heims at the frame and coilover brackets on top of the arms.

'75 Crew has 2005 F550 running gear with a 5.9 and swapping in mechanical 6.7 Cummins backed by ZF6 and Atlas 2 Speed. Rear bolted directly up just had to drill holes for '05 OE Braketry. Front is 4"s narrower than the '05 but will be able to run modified arms without having to modify Super 60. Body is very clean. Picked it up with retarded lift and the 5.9.

I have a 91 f350 crew cab 4x4 that I'm going to drop a 12 valve in, was planning on getting an old mid 90's ford school bus for the 12 valve and Alison trans, this way I can use the air compressor for on board air as well as rear airbag suspension. Are you going to sell your 12 valve since your gonna run the 6.7l?

More updates 9/20/13

First try you can see the PS Pump hitting the frame in the lower right corner.

Plenty of room for downpipe. Up-pipes will be much tighter.

Stak / Trail Worthy Cab Tcase tucks up nice. Won't have to modify tunnel very much at all.

Much lower with PS Pump removed. Still have another 2-3" drop on Pass & 4-5" on the driver side. May have to run cowl hood but I doubt it.

No sir I'll need misc parts to make the 6.7 Mechanical.

Nice work so far, what year is your EB in the background? I have a 77 I'm gonna restore one day, hopefully in the next year or two...

I have a question.

Wouldn't it have been easier to pull the cab and then set the power train in the frame instead of pulling the core support apart?

Was going to modify the core support anyways to make room for intercooler and trans cooler. I can't find the pic on how restricted it was, but openings were tinny. Basically cut the vertical pillars out where I can flip them to the outsides and weld back in opening up 6 more inches of air flow and space for intercooler/intercoolers. Plus things never seem to line up the same when pulling them off and on. Cab pulls tend to have a lot more off and on than sliding the power train right in. Nice how Superduties just unbolt. Makes working on front accessories/water housing a cinch.

any update?

Not yet. Had to donate most of my resources to the SuperCrawler for Redneck Yacht Club "Trucks Gone Wild in 2 weeks. Saving up for a front axle, Power Steering Box, and custom Deaver Springs for the rear while I box the frame. Got about 1-4 of the way done Thursday & last night but ran out of gas. Have to get refilled this week and get back to it next weekend.

Update 11/3/13

So tonight I finished up boxing the frame. I've never seen a frame with so many engineered bends, structure changes, and height variations. Basically left the 2 large front supports for the IFS and Power Steering. Much stronger than the simple boxing that I am adding. Did it in 4 sections. Rear, middle, front up to motor mount area, then the front horns where the new Bronco Power Steering will go. Heading off to Florida for Trucks Gone Wild in the SuperCrawler at Redneck Yacht Club for the weekend so won't be able to get on the motor mounts until the following weekend. Can finally see things coming together. Picked up another LCF last week too so I may be able to do another Ranger on Rockwell while I'm doing this one. That one will be far easier than this one since I don't care about it being street legal. Oh well here's a couple pigs.
