I haven't seen anyone post this before was wondering if anyone has switched their throttle body on a first gen ranger with a 2.3 L to a newer generation throttle body or a Throttle body off of an svo 2.3L turbo coupe model. The Reason I was wanting to try this was to relocate the IAC from the air box up to the throttle body to decrease the lag and smooth out the idle. If anyone has tried this or knows if it will work please give me a heads up.

Hypothetically, most of them will swap to other heads...with a few exceptions...

But when you say lag time...do you mean you hit the throttle and the engine doesn't respond right away? If so...check the throttle cable for play...the cables can stretch resulting in about an inch of play so when you push the gas pedal, it doesn't actually start to move the connection at the TB until that slack has been taken up...

You can add zip ties behind he pedal to take the slack out so that you will have instant pedal response...

If that is not the problem, maybe you can elaborate a bit...but the bottom line is the parts from a later 2.3 will pretty much bolt right on...but you may need to change or mod a few things on the exhaust side like where the EGR pipe plugs in...

Is your truck FI or carburetor?

EDIT: and I should add that with the play in the cable you probably do not achieve WOT (wide open throttle)...which can make the engine seem like it isn't performing properly.

At an idle most the rangers I have ever been around from that generation have a lope to their idle. I would like to remove the hesitation from when the computer tries to adjust air flow to the throttle body and the air has to pass through the long hose from the air box. I just want to reposition the iac to the throttle body to bypass that long hose to the air box. And it's fi
