Did the duraspark conversion with help from some members here:) Ran fine and when I went to start it today it had no fire. Coil??

Coils VERY rarely go bad . . certainly not overnight.Just go back and check your connections closely. Check for continuity through all wire connections. How long ago did you convert and how much was it driven?

Did you use the stock coil if not put it in and see if it works.

I did use the stock coil, got another one like it from a ford guy down the road and tried it with no success. I'm not sure how the power supply runs through the ignition system but I may just start at the switch and go through it. I never did remove all the harness from the computer through the fire wall, should probably eliminate all the wires not needed first. How do you get to the computer?

Converted it about 6 months ago but have driven it very little. Been battling oil and transmission leaks mostly. Drove it one day, jacked it up, put in a new trans filter and gasket, let it down and it wouldn't fire. Checked for fire with a spark plug in the coil wire, had my wife crank the engine, got one spark twice when she hit the key and that was it. No spark since.

Check that you have power to the ignition module and the distributor...could be a bad ignition box or something in the distributor. Hard to say, could be a number of things. BTW, the computer is located behind the passenger side kick panel. It's about 6" away from where the wiring harness goes through the firewall.

Did you use the GM HEI module or a Duraspark box?? You should check all connections like I said, but also check the operation of the pickup in the distributor. It's easy to do and info is here or anywhere on the web to tell you how. If you used the GM HEI module, there is a simple troubleshooting sequence for it as well.

Thank you Shran and thank you Pete. I did use the Duraspark box. Busy evening ahead but will look up how to check the distributor later tonight.

All you need is an ohmmeter to pretty well check the pickup in distributor. Its easier to troubleshoot the GM HEI module, than the Duraspark box and those boxes are known for dropping dead.
