84 4cyl 4x4 4spd man.trans options

i really want to have a trans with a 5th gear. could anyone point me in the right direction? is there a t5 trans with an adapter for the 4 wheel drive? would a 5 spd 4x4 out of a v6 work? does anyone have a 4cyl 5sp 4x4 trans for sale. can i take a 2wd 5spd and change it to a 4x4?

This is in the wrong place but ill help. The 2.3 liter has a different bolt pattern then the rest of the Ranger engines. If you get a tranny out of a v-6 make sure that you can change the bellhousing. Since yours is an 84 it has th Toyo Koygo 4-speed like mine but I put a v-6 in it so I had to change the bell housing. All you need to do is find a Toyo Koygo 5-speed and just use the 2.3 bell housing but be warned......In 85 Ford went to an internal slave cylinder.

In easiest terms try to find a Toyo Koygo 5- speed thats already behind a 2.3. But the 5 gear on the carbed 2.3 will just bog it down, when I had my 4 banger in it couldnt push its self up a hill in 4th gear and it had an 87 put in it, more power then the 84.

im not worried about the bog cause its gonna be a turbo build. this is my old ranger. i want to do another one like this.
