83' Air Issue

1983 Ranger 2.8 V6. Recently acquired so am still in the learning phase.
The air control valve has an open port and there does not appear to be any open ports anywhere on the engine for it to go.
The feeder hose is from air pump, to air bypass valve, to air control valve. One port on the ACV splits and feeds both sides of the engine manifolds, the other port, open.

I believe it had a hose to a muffler... for when air needed to be diverted... it would divert to a muffler.

There is the currently a connected port which feeds both side exhaust manifolds.
Do you mean a separate smaller type device in the engine bay or down to the exhaust system muffler? Been under it a bunch doing brake lines and such, don't recall seeing anything open.

No... sorry.

There is another rubber hose that connects to a stand alone muffler under the hood. You probably are missing the part. It's just a smallish canister.

See if you can bring up an exploded view of the system.

Thanks for the reply, makes sense being unfamiliar with what should be there.
I have searched and searched for images, diagrams and any form of info of what a stock engine consists of. Not a whole lot out there about this specific part of the engine.

I'm really not trying to send you on a wild goose chase here. I did a bit of googling and couldn't find what I was looking for exactly.

In my search I noticed some systems will also add air to the converter. I'm not positive on your vehicle exactly where it goes... my gut says it goes to a silencer/muffler. Very similar to this...

I want to say it looks kinda like this...

By no means did i think wild goose chase at any time, i greatly appreciate you taking the time to respond initially and more so with this new information.

On this engine there is only a single port on the pump, and the bypass and control valve are gained together. See first image below.
In that image the port in question (outlet B) says to engine or catalyst. I ruled out 'to engine' because the 'A' port is feeding the engine. This led me to continue looking for a catalyst, which led me to the second image. Which strangely enough has an open port specifically labelled for "air from THERMACTOR pump (a.k.a. air bypass). Only problem is the open port which is there is coming off of the control valve. Trying to reason out if it makes a difference, thinking it does not (ok, hoping it does not ).

Just got home from work and have been chomping at the bit to see if the cat had that port.
Odd, someone must have been messing around under there and accidentally hit the delete button on the cat, cause, yeah, there isn't one. HA, go figure. Also missing are the last 6 feet or so of pipe from the muffler (that i already knew).
I'll investigate the muffler/silencer in a bit. Gotta reflare some brake lines and finish up the vacuum canister reservoir i am making, upload that photo when it's done.

You’re missing what feeds the air supply to the catalytic converter.

When i saw the price, yeah, $46 for an empty can and single one way valve, couldn't do it. Plus, the pineapple juice was awesome
