i need to know where to get leaf spring perches for my 8.8 i have looked around the forum seeing what other ppl who have done this swap have used but all i can find that fit a 8.8 are only 2.5 inches wide and the ranger has a 3 inch leaf, could i get away with a 2.5 wide or and other suggestions where to get them?

Exploder 8.8s are a 3" tube. These fit perfect after cleaning the tube for welding. :icon_welder:

Napalm,
I'm not trying to dispute you because it sounds like you've already done the swap so you have way more experience than me. I was just going off of the write-up in the Tech Library that states the Explorer 8.8 has 3.25" axle tubes.Tech Library 8.8 Swap

i used a grinder and cut my old perches of my axle tubes from the 7.5 my uncle did the welding and the way i grinded the perches off made a perfect slanted edge which you welders should know, i guess, is a great surface for filling in with weld. my .02

just buy the summit ones and fit them to the axle.

like said...sploder 3.25 ranger 3. sploder has bigger shafts and bearings too.

And I'm not trying to get in a pissing match with anyone.

My Explorer 8.8 is a 3" tube, I did not modify the spring pads to fit. So either it is a 3" tube, or the Summit spring pads are really for a 3.25 tube, not 3" as they state?

I'm sure it's the original axle in the rear of mine too.

Weird...when i swapped from a ranger 8.8 in my truck to an explorer 8.8 the 3" u bolts from the ranger 8.8 would not fit around the explorer tubes, they were definitely 3.25".

Yep, 3.25" tubes on the Ex axle.

The Ranger axle tube is actually 2.75" where the perches go, but tapers up to 3" at the center chunk.
