Hi all... My truck is a 94 Mazda B4000 4x4 and has a trac lok 8.8 with 3.73 ratio and 28 spline axles. The clutch packs have gernaded in my diff and I want to rebuild it.

Most everything is ok in the diff with the exception of the spider gears. When the packs came apart, the spider gears ground everything up and as a result the spiders have chunks missing and need to be replaced

Wondering if the spider gears have to be from a trac lock diff? Or can I use any gears from an 8.8 or 7 inch as long as they are 28 spline?

I have found several used sets for sale online, but often they came from and "open" diff.

Thanks for the help :)

if you currently have a 28-spline carrier, the thing you need to know is that ALL 28-spline carriers use a 3/4" diameter cross shaft, so any 8.8" spider gear made for a 3/4" cross shaft will fit and function for you

Do you need the side gears and spider gears? The side gears are different for the trac lock.

yes I need all 4 gears. When the tabs for the clutch packs broke off, they went thru thu gears and tore them up pretty bad. But left the pinion gears alone. And that is what I had been wondering is if any of those gears were different or not.

This is currently for sale on ebay.. will the gears from this work?

Ford 8.8 inch, 28 spline Locker fits 1985 to 2002 LSD units

No numbers in the pics, but it looks identical to my diff.. and its cheap... or is the pin mentioned earlier going to be too big?

You would probably be better off going to the bone yard than buying off ebay. It is possible the metal fragments migrated to the bearings as well wheel and pinion.

yes I am well aware of that, which is why the diff is getting a complete rebuild.. bearings seals, brake lines, brakes.. all of it
