So I have a donor 8.8 and everything I need to make it work, my question is if anybody has also swapped all 5 shocks over as well..?

I will be more lowered in a street truck type setup and thinking that the added shocks may be beneficial to some degree.

Any thoughts?

2 will do just fine....

I'm unfamiliar with having 5 shocks on a rear end.
Is this stock? aftermarket? What is it you want to accomplish? Are you racing?
If this is street use I would just use whatever was a factory setup on your truck. Shocks do nothing for ride height, they control bouncing.

The expo has a torque damper shock going from the pinion area to the frame rail, and the shock mounts are on the spring plates, plus the stock Ranger mounting points makes for 5.

Just run the 2 Ranger stock locations.

Ya, the way it was set up on my mounty were with the two going to the standard shock tabs, the pumpkin stabilizer, and then two more connecting to the underside of the frame leading towards the front of the cab on both sides (positioned closer to the discs). My application will be for a street truck so I am going for a little less than stock height which for me is 4wd height because I have an edge. I want to swap everything over just cause it's there, but who knows,

I haven't even started the 5.0 swap yet because once I start that is going to have to be where it finishes and I still have to get the front diff's rear torque mount fabbed up for it. Still not even sure how to go about that as far as the placement goes. Otherwise I'd have swapped the front and rear already. Of course that is after I do the tune up. Been real busy lately..

Dont waste your time/money adding pointless shocks.

^^^wtf.. is that^^^ haha, good lord.

So I was just on another site having a similar conversation and I may be wrong all together. What I am calling the additional two shocks may actually be traction bar links of some sort and not actually shocks at all. If that is the case then I think I will actually try to get them set up on my ranger. I love a good solid swap that looks stock.

Some Expos and Mounties did have factory traction bars.

I think they are on most V8 models.

Makes me wanna just jump in and start ripping things out to swap but I have to keep the donor mobile until I get the engine quirks worked out before I do the whole swap

5 shocks...?

There is only 3 and 2 traction bars.

At least that's how my 99 5.0 Sploder, and every other one I've seen is...

He is talking about using the Ranger shocks in addition to the 3 on the Expo axle.

The '96 4.0 I got my 8.8 out of had a rear sway bar. It had the goofy shock thing on the diff too.
