77 LTD II

What about the new one? Mostly concerned with access

Ive done them but only on an engine stand lol
Put a little oil, grease, or lubriplate on th lip of the new seal. Thn put the seal against the crank, squish the lip a little and slowly slide it around the crank. Just make sure the lip os facing the right way or you'll be pissed when you start it.

You can never be too safe under a car, I look back on some stuff we did and it just gives me the chills. This picture in particular-

3 ton jackstands halfway up to do a TTB lift... no frickin way would I be under that truck today. I guess I lived to tell the tale but it SEEMED fine at the time. I remember the truck being a little wobbly.

My buddy and I evaded death one other time when removing a rear axle from a full size Bronco, we had not one but TWO high lift jacks under the rear bumper after the axle was out and they both collapsed at the same time. This all happened while the truck was on a trailer and we were standing behind it holding the jacks... scared the shit out of us both, damn lucky we didn't lose our feet or legs.

Stay safe

Amateur.

I had ALL 4 CORNERS of my old, late and beloved B2500 up on a stack of paving stones piled in a column. On a windy day. Had to swap tires and wheels pre-sale, and I was feeling adventurous.

What's amazing is how fast they fall! ;)

Pretty excited about this....after looking on and off for basically 20 years (ive owned this car since 03) i found a stainless rocker molding and it arrived today...

Its 81 7/8 in or thereabouts lol. Just under 7ft

Where did you find that? Trim and soft parts for most '70s and '80s cars are scarce.
I stumbled upon a place in denton texas called "ctc auto ranch"...they specialize in 40s-80s cars. They got an assload of mid-late 70s LTD II's, cougars, elites, Tbirds and rancheros.

It was a pricy piece...150 plus 71 shipping. But i needed it.

It was kinda luck i even got it...they told me they didnt have any...i was looking through parts cars pics and spotted them inside a 78 cougar. I sent them the picture with an arrow pointing to it. He said it was an un-inventoried part. Lol

But im gonna probably take a road trip down there maybe next spring...i need bumpers, atleast 1 bumper shock, and a few other odds and ends....i dont even wanna know what shipping on 2 bumpers for this thing would be.

You found an 8 foot long piece of trim that's not damaged and 46 years old. Amazing luck, congratulations.

A cousin did a lot of museum quality restorations in Dallas.
He would take the bumpers to a shop there somewhere and get them totally re-chromed. At least Denton is not totally into the metro-plex yet.

Rechroming is way more then i wanna spend.

My back bumper is trash. The metal behind the chrome is rotted bad, and the chrome looks like shit.

The front bumper is solid structure wise...but isnt in the greatest shape cosmetically.

So you're getting replacements then?
