60s are in this trucks future but not for awhile (i have to use up all my spare 44 shafts first :icon_rofl:) so you think i would be fine with the 3.50s that are in the axles now?

yup.the 460 has plenty of oomph to spin your tire with those gears,and those gears will take some load off the axle shafts.

hey,you're in logging country aren't you?should be plenty of used up f 350s hanging around the back country.check with the logging companies...they usually have a collection of worn out trucks clogging up their yards.dress like you're ready to work in the bush,talk to the number one guy....might be able to score some axles if you take the whole truck.i'm sure it's the same way there as here...don't bs,just get to the point,have cash,and make a fair(not too low/not too high)offer and the worst that'll happen is he'll say no.or,he may point you to one of the other outfits where he knows they have extra junk hanging around.

yah theres plenty of 350s around here but im just gonna wait and see how the half tons hold up.

ive decided not to do the head gaskets because i found out today that the engine had under 100,000 miles on it and im not worried about them.

i want this intake but im gonna look for a used one for a while first:Edelbrock 2166 Edelbrock Performer Manifolds for Ford

and same for a carb, idk what i want for that yet but im gonna look around for a good deal on a used one.

i dont have the program anymore but i used to have a dyno on here that when you put in the stats for your motor itd give an estimate of hp and torque that was pretty cool. what are you expecting power wise?

i dont even have the slightest clue. every website i go to has a different baseline HP for the 460. so i dont know where to start from.
 
What heads are you running?

It might be worthwhile to tear down the engine and do a stock rebuild. But get your blocked decked to get a proper quench distance. It will increase detonation resistance and give a bit more mileage. Be a shame to go through all the work and end up having to rip the engine out.

stock heads, not sure about the casting number. like i said though, this engine has under 100,000 on it so im not even a litlte bit concerned with taking the heads off.

im more worried about just getting the few parts that i do want in there and get it sealed up. and this engine will make its way back out eventually.....someday when i have expendable cash and go full retard with it :icon_twisted:
 
honestly for what your gonna use it in i wouldnt worry about doing alot to make power. somehow i think your going to have more then enough just with what your have planned. but i do know that the heads are where you make your power. try and fine the dove heads for it. cant remember the year right now. but thats the same head we're looking for to throw on dads lincoln. hopfully they're esier to find around you then here.

yah im thinkin i could probably just throw it in the way it is and it would haul azz like crazy haha......but wheres the fun in that :dunno:
 
I have a set of D0VE-C heads with 40,000 on them. They are bare though as I originally thought to put big valves and stuff in it. Then I bought my SCJs. So I have the heads and FRpp Locks, collars and spring seats. Needs valves and springs matched to your cam. I'll make ya a good deal on if the day comes and you want an upgrade.
