alright i have an 88 ford ranger its got a 7.5" rearend 5 lug and the spider gears ar chewed up how i just happen to have an 89 mustang 7.5" rearend its a 4 lug but both i beleve are 28 spline and 373 gear ratio, will the chunk from the mustang rear end fit my trucks rear end or atleast the spider gears?:icon_confused:

Yeah, the spider gears should swap over just fine.

kool thanks so just the spider grears or will the chunk as well, just so i know

a 7.5 ring gear is a 7.5 ring gear, should swap over just fine

just swap the spiders! screwing with the carrier requires setting up gears... or at least checking the mesh.

o ok kool ya im for anything easyer

if you have 4.10 gears or lower you might have issues getting the cross pin out but if you do pull out the dremel and grind the offending ring gear tooth (there should only be one) slowly until the pin slides out, anything higher than 4.10's the cross pin should come out without modification. The 4.10 cross pin is notched from the factory enough so that you can get the C clips out but you won't be able to get the spiders out without completely pulling the cross pin.

Just make sure the chunks off of the other set of spider gears didn't go through the bearings and eat them. It might be all for naught in that case.

3.73's are the same.

ok so i just found out this axle from the mustang is actualy an 8.8 so that wont work will it?

or would it be hard to fab this rear end to my truck i know i would have to change the axles to make it 5 lug but what eles is invalved i can weld if i need to

ya thanks i didnt think about that

didn't remember having that problem when I put the 3.73 axle in my truck YEARS ago, but like I said that was years ago... I know the 3.73 explorer 8.8 had no issues pulling it out all the way when I put it in my explorer.

I won't mention the bearing issues in the 7.5 in my truck right now... :) it's been that way for 5 years and LOTS of abuse so far.

throwing in a lunch box locker would solve the issue easily...
