Full of fluid. Heard a thud. Then complete loss of all gears. Now just makes a slight whine when in gear

If I could afford it. It definitely would get a manual. This ranger is my 99 with a 4.0 4+4 xlt. Would like to get her going again. Currently driving and working on my 90 xlt 4+4 2.9 manual. It’s engine need built

Check fluid level with engine OFF
Start engine and re-check fluid level, if pump is working it should have dropped, if its the same then pump is broken, needs a full rebuild to replace

With engine started shift in to 1, if it engages but D didn't then one-way clutch is bad, full rebuild needed

No working engagement pretty much means transmission will need to come out, but drain the fluid and check it for metal bits and check the filter
Metal bits/flakes will mean full rebuild

1999 Ranger 4.0l with 5R55E can use 1998 thru 2011 5R55E from a 4.0l as a replacement, OHV or SOHC doesn't matter
If 3.0l then its a 4R44E but can still use an automatic from another 3.0l 1995 thru 2008
2WD or 4x4 matters, has to match what you have now

if I put a manual transmission in. What would I have to do electricaly

Jump the starter bypass wires
Connect reverse light switch
All on the current DTR switch on drivers side of transmission on shift rod

May want to swap computer to Manual version, not required but CEL(check engine light) will stay on all the time if there is no automatic solenoids hooked up to the big 16 pin connector on drivers side of transmission

Finally put fuel pump in the 99 .. let it run for a while. Went through all gears. It still wouldn’t pull at all. Also the tach has stopped working. Was working before the transmission quit. No codes at all

No codes. So hopefully it’s internal since I will be putting another transmission in
