5 out of top 10 clunkers are Fords.

Just read this and had to put in a comment. I had an 01' Corolla, bought it with 107,000 miles for $5000, drove the absolute hell out of it for a year and 35,000 miles, $3500 worth of damage from hydroplaning (insurance fixed it), and leaking valve seals later I sold it to a fella for $4700 cause it was a toyota:icon_rofl: I even told him it had been in a wreck and used a lil oil:icon_confused: So apparently somebody loves 'em. Honestly 40mpg and decent pep plus four seats was kinda hard to beat! Do love my ranger more though!

what i say is that from MY exp im not getting a toyota again, the work was done by corporacion flores, the toyota athorized dealer in honduras, all the parts where toyota original, maybe the block or the heads had some damage that the machine shop couldn notice:dunno:

maybe the Flower Corporation needs to stick to bouquets :icon_rofl:

Actually $4500 is about exactly what you'd expect to trade a 2003 explorer in for. You might get $1k more if you went private party but people often take a hit on trade ins over private party sales.

They could have just traded it in and got about the same instead of 'clunkering' it but most people dont care. Money is money to them.

Let's not forget that several companies were offering double rebates on the C4C vehicles.

Fords are the only cars that get ran into the dirt and traded in at 200k miles+?

i must say that my 1989 toyota pickup was wrecked 9 times had 320,000 miles and a salvage title. still got 4200 for it. well my dad got 4200 for it when i was 18. at the same time i rolled my 93 ranger into a river drown the motor, let it dry and it ran just as good.

I'm curious about all the bagging on the little Japanese cars...

Have any of you actually owned one?

I have had a number of them myself..they all last forever, get awesome mileage, and require the same amount of maintenance as a refrigerator to go 200,000 miles. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I used to have a Mitsubishi Eclipse clone. It was a riot to drive, and I would happily get another one that hasn't been beat on... but at 170k it was by no means maintenance free... I don't see how anyone could expect anything to be at that age.

They get deep six'd.

I owned a 1992 honda accord. the pos still runs great at 290K, in my uncles possession

Fords are the highest traded in clunkers since the cash for clunkers program started. They make up 3 out of the top five cars and 5 out of the top 10. In addition the Exploder is the number one 'clunker' being turned in for execution.

explorer in the video!!! =[

I can't believe that they destroy perfectly good cars, think of all the people without cars, that need something, even with bad mpg.

Also, this making parts harder to find.
AHH! those shitturds! this is the dumbest thing ever!!! there giving too much! if its worth 4500 bucks it aint worth trashing! theres some nice cars, and perfectly usable engines in there! that explorer i would buy in a heaertbeat for dirt cheap. what about those who arent 18 or who cant afford new cars? we gotta buy expansive junk cause the government out-buys us? frik that!
in canada we have a similair plan. some dealers offer a 2000 dollar trade in on anything on 4 wheels. it gets scrapped too
