On my 94 ford ranger when ever I engage my 4x4 it acts like a brake and buge the front tires. I have no flashing 4x4 lights and I can still hear the 4x4 high and low engage. Any idea's of what can be wrong with it?

"buge" the front tires?

Oh, budge.

So if I got it right... you have auto hubs, and when you go into 4x4 the front wheels lock up? As in will not move, like chocked tires?

If you disengage the 4x4 will the tires move?

I'd start at the hubs, if the hubs aren't shot, then it might be something jammed up in the differential? Not sure on that. Someone who knows more should be able to diagnose your disease.

I meant they wont buge

Seriously not trying to be a dick, even though a lot of people around here think I am on this point.

I would suspect the front diff before anything else. Jack up the front, remove the front wheels and hubs and then try to

Yeah, I felt like I was reading something Boomhauer wrote.....

Based on experience, my first suspicion would be the U-Joints on the shafts. More specifically the U-joints closest to each wheel. In a bind (literally), I used WD-40 and it freed them up long enough to sell it. :D

I take no offence to what you are saying and thank you for your help. I have manual hubs from warn theat aren't even a year old (for the comment above yours) and I'll check the diff later today plus the U-joints.
