Hey guys, i have a problem with 4 low not engaging, it has engaged for me before! I have it in neutral with brake depressed (auto tranny) and it will engage into hi no problem but not low. No light, no clunking, but i do hear a single click behind the dash, does this mean my module is working? Also i have read about a couple possibilities like motor, fuses, the selector switch, neutral safety switch, brake position sensor, and all of the wiring. I am baffled and would appreciate any input and info. I am also curious where some of those sensors are! Thanks guys!

Mine gives me fits every once in a while. I be leave in my case the previous owner didn't use it much and just needs the grease and gears to work them selves loose again if I'm making my self clear? things like to get stiff from not being used.

4WD low quit working

Anything else not working ? Will it engage and work in 4WD hi ? I just had to replace the correct 4WD GEM Module. In mine the wipers stopped working, power windows, dome light but the 4WD would work on hi setting. The clicking sound in mine sounded like it was coming from behind the radio which is where the GEM Module is located.

Thanks for the replies! My 4wd hi will engage and work fine, my 4 low used to work for me. Everything such as the wipers, window, ect. Work fine. And the very faint click i hear is also coming from i believe behind the radio.

I had the same problem on my 94 Ranger, I replaced the 4x4 module behind the drivers seat and problem was solved,Hope this helps

Had the same problem and was really baffled on why it wasn't working comes to find out the new 4x4 tcase motor went out literally in a week and got stuck in neutral trying to shift into 4x4l...Took the tcase motor off manually twisted it and put it where it needed to...Got another motor under the warranty and it seams to work....Don't really want to put it into 4x4 l anymore just because I don't want it to break again but the 4x4 works just fine for me...Also here is a thread on what im planning on doing that dirtcowboy posted on here.......

check it out doesn't seam to hard to do but you will not have to worry about it not ever working again.
