4wd slipping, watter in diff.

I know this sounds stupid, ut you did have both the front and rear diffs regeared tot eh same ratio correct?

Good question, but once a minute seems far too slow for that to be the problem. Driveline windup occurs normally during turns.

The lean misfire problem is an interesting one....though I'd submit the current situation sounds more like a rich misfire (in which case it would be accompanied by a puff of black smoke visible to everyone outside the vehicle).

By any chance, is the check engine light on? Does it work with the key on, engine off (should be lit).

yeah, but he said that when he lets off the throttle it goes away and then comes back. I still think that could be the problem. Even if the shop said that they are geared alike, evrybody makes mistakes right? I too agree that a rich misfire could cause this. Would kind of explain why it goes away when he eases into the throttle after letting off. Dunno, guess we have to wait and see.:icon_cheers:

So i didnt notice the slipping sensation for a while, but it came back ever so slightly on saturday while doing some light wheelin. i just drained the T-case to look at the chain and the tension seemed fine (i could move it about 1/4 inch when poking with a screwdriver).

You shouldn't be able to pull the chain away from the sprocket that much. I still say it's a stretched chain.

While you're at it, measure the circumference of your tires. They should be within 1/4 ". That alone will put extra strain on the chain and wear it out. The SLA 4x4 suspension seems to be more prone to it than the TTB for some reason.

the guy who did the gears is a very respected well known differential specialist in the area so i am pretty sure that they are the same ratio. i got both my old gear sets back and this problem started happening about 6 months after the regear. i did go through the proper break in period also. i am almost 100% positive that it is not a misfire of any kind.
no check engine light.
