Hello, I plan on doing a five speed swap in my 96 4.0 4wd ranger and plan on doing it on the cheap, I had a couple questions about what I could get away with.
I would rather not have to replace my wiring harness and ECU, I was wondering if I could just jump some wires to make the ECU think the transmission is in neutral (for starts/4wd low), and somehow make it so the reverse lights come on when I put it in reverse. would this theoretically work? the ECU thinking my auto transmission is is neutral all the time?
I know/have all the hard parts(clutch, flywheel, backing plate, floor plate, hydraulics/lines, ect) but was wondering what I could get away with "electronically"
Thanks
