my ranger 4,0 v6 xlt with a 4R55E gearbox

slipping between 2 and 3 gears.

Does anyone have an idea of what it can be

If your truck is a '97 there is a chance your trans is a 5r55e, check your door codes to verifi.

If it is a 5r55e your OD solenoid could be bad.
If it is a 4r55e your bands may need ajusting.

The 4R55E has a valve body issue. There is an update to it you can have done. I am waiting until my friends shop slows down a bit and he's going to do mine. Mine will rev about 200 rpms between 2nd and 3rd sometimes.

There's a few valve body updates for the 4r55 and 5r55. There's tons of info around about a bonded seprator plate and such. I think there's a tsb's for various stuff. If I recall correctly they address a flaired shift, delay reverse and low pressure to the epc I think and a cel that I can't recall the code ? I think if you google 5r55e rebuild diary there's a full thread about it.

I talked to my friend again today (owns his own shop & been building for over 20 years) and mentioned this issue to him. He told me it's most likely a combination of the valve body AND the EPC. These two things are what he's doing to mine. I drove another friends Explorer tonight that he rebuilt and did the VB update to and was very impressed. I can't wait to get mine done. I can't be pushy though, he's hooking me up on it.

We need the code it threw.

I may be the front pump dropping your line press. or the seperator plate gaskets are blown.

ok is there any were i can get a replasment gerbox ore is it vworth fixing

if your problem is in the VB you can do it your self in about 2hours, its under the pan.

if its the pump the trans needs to come out and the pump is on the other side of the bell housing.

Please do NOT go to a junk yard for trans parts, there is a reason why the trucks are there.

and i have bin at a garragr wher they have turend the presior up hav du i ajust that down ??

and wher do i by a new VB
