4bt swap -- 95 Explorer

I like the way that looks....You got some pics from the back side?? Did you use glass with a mold, of did you mod the original??
SVT

No pics of the back, its at work. I'll get some tomorrow.

I used a spare Radio bezel i had sitting around. I bought a cheap 3 gauge pod off ebay (APC universal pod -- $11 shipped):

I cut them both up and glassed them together. A little bondo and VIOLA! Look at post #36 and you can see what it looked like before the bondo.

thats pretty nice... but i dont have that style dash lol figures. btw made progress today, got passanger side all done and its ready for primer.. love the popper :)

I started making one for the gen II dash. It very simple and needs a little fit and finish work. It replaces the center vent and 4x4 switch/ false vent. It fits 3 2-1/16 gauges. I'll bring it to Carlisle for you.

thats pretty nice, bring it along. thanks. i have a 3 pod that was going to mount on top of the dash, just needs to be shaved down to contour the dash. see how this one looks in there.

also had another idea of putting something like u made on the passanger side dash above the glove box where that little ledge is. got too many wires in this truck as it is with only 3 gauges lol

I painted it Krylon gloss black, then cleared it with matte clear. I'll put it back together on monday, The 4x4 switch, indicator, and gauges are at work.

Looks good, I think you just inspired me to do something similar to mine !!

I just saw your reply.

I thought about making a pod for the 2nd gen "ledge", but it would put the gauges too far out of your normal vision area. Gauges over there would be more for show then actual use.

i was thinking about putting the vac fuel and like air n put them on a slight angle towards the driver...but thats a ways away, i got enough other things on the plate to get done lol

Weekend update:

Between cutting up the 2.5 trees that fell during friday nights storm, I managed to get a little done this weekend.

I picked up and stripped a Jeep D35 with 3.07 gears. I still have to see if the carrier will work in my d35 front before I buy new stuff. Theres not much info out there on putting 3.07s into the IFS carrier.

I replaced my "F" code torsion bars with "A" bars. I have the adjuster bolts backed out about 1.25" from where they were to keep the same ride height. They should help handle the extra weight of the Cummins.

I replaced the upper and lower ball joints.

I also finished up my center HVAC duct block-off plate.

The IFS (95+) explorer is a dana 35 low pinion, the same as the jeep 35, so the gears and the carrier will fit in the explorer axle...
