so I've run 33s for awhile now and I'm looking to go alittle bigger and regear but I want to stay at my same height. Is the Dana 35 strong enough for 35s, will they fit with miner trimming or major. Oh and do wheel bearings blow up all the time, cause I do mine every 4 months. And recently my wheel alinement went out. Will 35s just make everything worse.

Thanks dave,

The axle should hold up, wheelbearings shouldnt be horrible if you dont have tiny backspacing on your wheels. As far as trimming goes, you will have to cut a lot, no pussy footing around it, but I would do it. cutting dont bother me

Yes it will hold up, but you'll have to do some upgrades.

Mainly:

Spicer 5-760x's U-joints, and mod the yokes to take FULL circle snap rings.

C-Clip external eliminator (on the slip yoke of the passenger axle-shaft).

Warn Manual Heavy Duty Jeep hubs (not the stanard ones)

And if you have problems with toasting wheel bearings, swap D44 F150 outer knuckles onto your current beams.

Check the tech library, there are articles on all that I've mentioned.

My truck has about 4" of lift with 35's.. Fiberglass fenders and a firewall tub is a must..... I can stuff a 35 and turn lock to lock. My bump stops are in the stock location..

35s are fine. I wheel through nasty mud and haven't toasted a bearing or threw a u joint cap yet.

The suggestions above are all good.

The D35 can be a bit finicky about proper bearing setup, but give it that and you should not have any problems.

One common issue is the outer locknuts coming loose (w/manual hubs). Solution is to torque them to 225-250ft-lbs, up from the 150ft-lbs the books specify.
I would also suggest using nothing except Timken SET-37 bearings. Reports are that "cheap" bearings don't last even a month in this frontend.

You'll need to trim a pretty good amount to fit 35s under there at 4" lift (or the fiberglass fenders AaronC mentions), but it can be done. :icon_thumby:

I've had 35s on mine for over 6 years now.

Here is my rig back when it had a 4" lift and 35's.

More room where? I think everything is exactly the same behind the sheetmetal of the fenders on a Gen-3 (the firewall/floorboard certainly appears the same, which is the only thing I can think of that would change things if it was different).

If anything, it's harder to trim on a BII... Cutting the rear fenders opens up gaps from the outside to the inside you then have to deal with.

Yup, that gap in the rear fenders can be a pain to deal with. But in the end, its worth it!

Lets see a pic?

My apologies, after posted I realized I had it backwards. I tried to edit but I guess it either didn't go through or I forgot to hit submit. According to the tech library the 93+ trucks are easier to stuff then the older ones.

Daveguy, you can reference the sizes you want here. There is also several photos of different lift/tire combinations. I haven't gone through it, so I'm not sure if the specs you want are shown.
