i have purchased a used 8.8 rear to swap my 7.5 with (thanks:AllanD, 4x4junkie, projectnitemare, and Totalled) and will begin building it soon. its an open pre '93 width 28 spline (3.08). i have decided on a powertrax no slip for the locker and i want to retain my stock ratio for compatibility with my front axle. my stock dana 28 in the front is 4.10. Some of the after market ring gear sets for 8.8 list as 4.10 and others as 4.11. would 4.11 in the rear conflict with 4.10 in the front(blown t-cases?)? its only .01 right?

You will have no problems with a 4.11 if that is what you happen to purchase. You will see this exact same thing with factory vehicles especially older F150s, 3.54s in the front and 3.55s in the rear. You shouldn't deviate more than 1% in ratio from front to rear, so you could go anywhere between 4.07 and 4.15 with no harm.

theyre the same thing

thanks matt and bottledgt for your knowledge. the last time i did a ring gear in my 7.5 was 6 years ago and they shipped me the wrong ratio. i didn't count teeth, i just put it in. it was 3.73 and i still had 4.10 in the front. i was very upset the first time i used 4wd. i haven't locked my hubs since. I'm really looking forward to 4wd again. i will be going with yukon gear 4.11 and either a eaton trutrac (clutch less limited slip) or a powertrax no slip (locker). decisions, decisions....

I've yet to ever see a 4.11 8.8" gearset (37T/9T) they've all been 4.10 (41T/10T).

My guess is it's actually a 4.10 mismarked as 4.11 (the 9" uses a 4.11 ratio)

i believe yukon gear has the 4.11s
