anyone ever turbo a 4.0 i picked one up from a guy that was getting rid of a bunch of crap but i was wondering if it could be done i know there are a few companies that make a supercharger for the 4.0 but im not sure on the boost levels or anything like that any tips advise or comments i wanted to put it in the bed of my truck dont think it would live underneath!

thre was a guy oin here working on a turbo charged 4.0 b2....but gave up becouse of funds and school...i think he is going to re-do it this spring

thanks man that was pretty helpfull, still gunna be a bunch of trial and error but anything helps. im just about done with my jeep d30 and four link on it and after that its turbo time i will get pics up of the swap when i get er finished it was way more work to build a 4 link than i thought lol!

what do you want to know. Im runninmg a single T3 on my 4.0. i built the kit from parts laying around

How about making the info available so TRS can share it with others interested in doing this to help guide them along. Or atleast give them some insite as to how it has been done by someone else.

was it worth all the trouble for the amount of power gained? how do the intake gaskets hold up also did you use your o2 sensor still? when you taped into the oil pressure sending unit for you oil feed did it drop your engine oil press.?

Ur not goin to get that much power gain out of this sit up, Maybe like 5 pounds of boost if that. The motor don't have the compression to make alot of boost.

well will it run as hard as lets say a stock 5.0l because if it will i think it would be worth all the trouble as compared to swaping a v8 in it!

ther truck is alot moire fun with the boost. Suire you can say 5 psi isnt much. but when my tiny turbo can spool before 2000 (before max torque) and maintain a 5 psi thru redline it really helped alot. if i was able to fine tune it with a aftermarket ecu it would be far better. If you really get into tuning turning up the boost to 8-10 would be fine even for everyday driving.
ui do know that Omar of RPS put down over 300 hp and almost 400 ft lbs of torque with a mild cam and 14 psi on his ohv. This was tuned and he had a fuel system to back the setup. This power was at the wheels i belive thru a C6. So you figure 10 psi tuned and fueled on a 4.0 ohv would probally put you in the 200-250hp to 300ft lbs area

compression dosent make boost. It may have an effect on spool time but dosent make boost. My tiny ass T3 spools to 5 psi before 2000 and ive seen 17+ psi before 3000. I have now just kept the boost dow nto 5 psi dfor reliability reasons and that i dont have the tuning equiptment/fuel system to keep up with that kind of pressure.

Also boost is just a measure of restriction. You add a bigger cam...flow goes up. The wastegate will still open at 5 psi but you will still see improvment in power of course because your using the pressurized airflow more

well if i could reliably get 200 to 250 horses out of it thats every bit as much power as a stock 302 so that would be about what im shooting for:icon_hornsup:
