Hi all have 94 extended cab with a 3.0 and a A4LD that won't shift to second in drive. I can shift it manually and it shifts fine. Any ideas what my issue is? Thanks in advance

Has 145000 miles on it. As far as I know the bands have not been touched. Fresh fluid and filter change. Fluid was dirty not burned and absolutely no metal in the pan. Good vacuum to the modulator.Mileage?
Have the bands ever been adjusted?
Is the trans fluid up to level?
Has the trans fluid and filter ever been changed?
Transmission Modulator Valve connected? This could be the cause.
Thank you for the reply. I will adjust those bands when I get home and reply back with hopefully a drastic improvement.Bands should be adjusted every 20-50k depending on who you talk to.
That A4LD has some valve body flaws that wear make worse. After having gone through the 170-ish k mile trans in my 92, I did reverse servo o-ring and gasket, Transgo shift kit, o-ringed end plugs, shift corrector sleeve and I forget what else offhand. Adjusted the bands and I’d do it again. Huge increase in performance.
That was the first thing I checked. Everything appeared free and I went ahead and shined everything up with steel wool. Seen where some was adding another spring may need to investigate into adding thatOnly other thing I have would be the governor. lil Blue pretty much covered it
