hey i swapped a 4.0 from a 90 ranger auto to a 90 ranger 2.9 5spd i took the entire 4.0 engine bay harness and computer i have everything working except my turn signals back up lights and most inportant when i turn the key all the way to crank it the truck wont do anything the ebrake light comes on like it does when u crank. idk what to check for please help

Start simple. Double check to make sure the solenoid and started are hooked up properly. Fuses? Relays?

After that...it's making sure that the pins at the cannon plug are in the right spot. Unless you swapped in the dash from the 4L truck too.

Double check where you spliced your wires. Make you you swapped them correctly.

Thats your plroblem. No 4.0 swap is 100% plug and play (that I know of). Pickup a wiring diagram for both your truck and your donor. All your splicing should be in the 2 plugs on the drivers fender well (one grey one black).

Or you could just swap the rest of the harness.

That big white plug on the firewall....the round one. One truck being 2.9 and the other 4.0....some of the pins in the connectors may be in different places, and may need to be switched around or just cut and spliced directly together.

Might need to get ahold of this guy. Rickcdewitt or even AllanD.

Dude its not that hard. You've done 95% of the work already.

I Cant believe you swapped a 4.0L in place of a 2.9L, went through all that work, and now your giving up because you wont look at a freaking diagram.

You officially suck.
