4.0 SOHC Aluminum Valve Covers

Well, they're here.

Theyre... okay ish. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

They seem like they'll work, even though they're for explorer.

There is a big drawback tho, they are *covered* in aluminum dust and what looks like casting or manufacturing residue. Hands get covered in silver powder when handling them. Not too sure how I feel about bolting them on my engine, even after a thorough cleaning.

Oh, and the gaskets they come with are poop.

If the valve covers encourage oil flow like the picture on their ad says the gaskets shouldn't really matter.

As promised, a review:

The good: they're aluminum, and would probably look rather nice in there. Would allow for a tee-in for something like oil return lines, etc., which was my initial plan.

The bad: the quality of the rivet job on the internal splash shields is mildly concerning. Not sure I'd want what I'd describe as a suboptimal pop rivet hanging directly above my camshafts. Maybe it's fine and I'm worrying too much, but I know how bad my luck is with stuff.

The ugly: so the reason I didn't use these is the casting and cutting debris left all over the covers. It looks like they raw cast these things or 3d printed them, did not clean the debris off of them, and riveted the covers in. End result is a *lot* of metal debris covering them inside and out. I could probably scrub them to death and get all of it, but missing a few flakes could lead to bad. Not worth the risk to me.

In the end, I sent them back to bezos. They'd probably be completely fine, but why take the risk?
