I am still working on it but there is oil around the #5 plug. It is getting a code for tps and maf now and 172,173,176,177

i just went to the junk yard and got a fpr from a 4.0 exploder, still the same shit, its really pissing me off, my cousins explorer does what my ranger does too, just easing into the throttle or taking off and getting onto it it runs like complete shit, feels like your pressing the brakes and letting off its missing so bad. i never get a cel light and any other time it runs just fine, hell i just drove 350 miles to Seattle yesterday with no probs and the same gas mileage, what gives? anyone know what could cause this? already replaced the fuel filter,regulator,iacv,maf,plugs,wires, fuel pressure was 30psi at the rail and moved between 30-40 reving it up, and the vac gauge i put on it shows everything just dandy????

My 94 3.0L was having a problem where it was shuttering, I wouldn't call it a miss, so not sure if this is similar to your issue or not, but the problem ended up being a bad fuel injector.
I would check your injectors with a Ohm meter, by unplugging the injectors and testing the Ohm value through the injector coils. I can't remember what my ohm values were but my bad one didn't read anything. I would do that and compare their values to each other.
Since I have a rolled 2.9L ranger I stole 2ea injectors from it and swapped(one bad injector, and another with a broken nozzle cap). Solved the problem and is getting 22 MPG again, but still has a rough idle, and occasional pinging. I should probably find the injector that matches the original, and get a replacement cap for the other, and maybe that will solve my idle.
