Autozone has an online manual if you don't want to spend the money. However, the procedure is not as detailed as I would like. I'm in the middle of the same process right now.
I've always been a fan of the Ford service manuals. They can usually be had on eBay for cheap. I make it a point to track a set of manuals down for every car I buy.
I have the Service Manual for my '93 Tempo and I would have been completely lost without it. It really does break down procedures in terms you can understand (other manuals can be extremely vague).
Same w/ the vehicle specific EVTMs from Helm Inc, great info in those, too.
The main reason I bought it is because the harmonic balancer was bad. It looked impossible to replace w/o pulling the engine. The manual had the majority of steps needed to just drop half of the engine down and repair through the wheel well. It took about 3 days of free time.
I only have a Clintons for my '88 Ranger, like what would be at your local parts store. And everytime I look something up, I usually end up not getting the information I need.
