Ok my lifters have started ticking but i dont have the money nor the time to fix it.. yet ...... what do you all suggest that i can do just to at least cut down on the noise .... ive herd a few different thing to do so just wanted another opinion :dntknw::dntknw::dntknw:

how do you know its your lifters and not pushrod/rocker arm wear?

for lifters, running an engine flush might help. for pushrods and rocker arms, lucas will help.

ok thanks my old 2.9 had some noisy lifter so i knew the sound and it sounded pretty much the same but i kno that doesn't mean anything... but it need valve cover gaskets soon so i got to get some money first before i can check what it is for sure ... but thanks that what i was thinking.... the old diesel trick should help :woot:

The 4.0s usually tick from worn rockers/pushrods. They are different from the 2.9 in the source of the valvetrain tick.

Have you cleaned the Mass Air Meter. My 93 4.0 sounded like it had bad lifters or pushrods. Then i read here to first clean the Mass Air meter. Try it first it could be the problem and its free.

Unless it's making a nasty racket, turn the stereo up. If it IS making a nasty racket, park the truck until you fix it. Though it won't have the SBC failure (NASTY), you still don't want a pushrod flying around loose.
