I'm elbows deep in it and can't comprehend how to do this. I'm in desperate need of help.

Not sure what the problem is there. It should be as easy as plugging in the brake switch. Unless of course you are using an Explorer harness. Then you have to add some wires to the harness for the rear lights because those are part of the cabin harness on an Explorer, and they don't go through the firewall like they did on your BII.

They don't at all. Im not even sure which plug or harness is the right one. Which I why I'm having such a hard time. Becausebsomebof it wires into the headlight switch and some is the brake switch. Then I have to find reverse lights. Cause that circuit runs through there as well. At least that what the manual says. Haynes manual. So I'm at a stand still. And I need this to be running and driving this weekend.

It can be really confusing but usually has a simple enough solution.

When I swapped a 96 dash into an 88 cab there were many small wiring issues that had me stumped...like the reverse lights and a few others....but all the parts were there because I also used a 96 frame so it was just a matter of adapting things like the rear lenses and bulbs from 3 sockets to 2 sockets.

Hardest part for me was focusing on getting X year parts and X year wiring...as long as they aer both X year should match...only when I tried to incorporate Y year parts that it became a challenge...

One member posted a wiring diagram that would have solved my 3 to 2 bulb issue but I took an easier route and just made the backup lights mount on the bumper instead of in the lense...

Lol thx mark. That's how I feel. If I had a pinout on the connectors I could solve this so easy. In trying km it pull the loom apart just to see where all these wires go

got it. all light work now. my mind was just scattered with everything that had to be done. i had my brother step in to slow me down.

its funny because the wires from the explorer dash share the same colors but on the explorer connector there two of each color wire so you have to just test to see which one makes the lights work.

i still need to find dash illumination and at least the dome light. still working on the horn. i would leave it alone but i live in utah and we have a dumb ass inspection thats pretty strict. i understand why though. i just hate it. lol.

Another issue is that EEC-Iv will have a computerized conniption if then brake lights
aren't connected.

Part of the self test circuitry is grounded through the brake lamps.

And idle strategy is affected by the brakes being applied, so the computer senses activity via the brake lamp switch.

If you don't have them GET the EVTM for your vehicle as well as the Donor vehicle.
