390 swap into 92 ford ranger.

I have a 1975 F100 explorer custom with a 390 and pretty much the entire drive train. i want to put it into a 92 ranger i just bought. what would be involved in the swap. i have a welder and fabrication experience for semi trucks and tractors just need to rebuild the 390 and know what to do to drop it into my ranger.

Subject has come up before and everyone has said don't do unless meant for mud runs or hill climbing. Too big, too heavy, everything has to be custom, too much time and money. Any stock 302 made for the last 29 years has more hp that that motor and is a lot easier and better suited. Any Ford motor from '73-76' is a bad choice for a build due to all the equipment changed for smog.

The FE engines, 390 is one, would suffer from the 2's in a Ranger

2 long
2 wide
and 2 heavy

A Ford 351 doesn't fit but can be made to fit, it is 29L x 25W x 29Tall, weights 525lbs

FE series is 32L x 27W x 29Tall, weights in at 635lbs

3 inches longer and 2 inches wider and 110lbs heavier

302 is 27L x 19W x 21Tall, weight 450lbs

what they said^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^....... I once knew somebody that had a 351 in a mustangII........ it was a tight fit.... you had to lift the motor up a few inches to change spark plugs...lol
