hey thanks for lookin.. havent been around in awhile been workin alot.

got my tax returns now and time to get back to my 302 ranger swap.

long story short its a 84 ranger 4x4 302 c5 trans already swapped in.

im needing some help with headers on this thing, it currently has some shorty headers on it but thy are pretty much toast and just wondering if anyone has any advice on some headers that may fit (i already had to notch a 2x3 section from the top of one frame rail for the origonal fitment) i just dont want to order some headers that will not fit as i may not be able to send them back.

my other question is with the c5 trans, i went a little crazy with it and put a decently radical cam in it and now need a 2500-3000 stall since it now has no bottom end and the 5c lockup converter laughs at it when i pull it into gear.

anyone have any experience with stalling a c5? from what i have read a c5 is simply a c4 with a different valve body and converter but both are interchangeable as long as the spline count is the same.

sorry for the long winded message, any help would be appreciated.
thanks for lookin

by the way its been 2 years since i even looked at this thing, i know the truck is a 84 the c5 is a 84 and i cannot remember the year of my motor i need to pull the starter and get the #s back off of it

If I had a 2wd it would have Shelby Tri-Y knockoffs.

There is a sticky in this sub-forum with pictures of different headers you might want to check out. :icon_thumby:

You are just the right man to answer such a question! :icon_thumby:

A C5 is a C4 with a lockup convertor. You just need to have the C5 built as a C4 with a stall if thats what you want. A 4x4 doesn't really need a big cam though. I'd get a better cam and keep the C5 with lock up function if it was me. I'd look at a dual plane intake, maybe air gap, and a hyd roller 4x4 cam and make good use of the C5. I think it only locks up in 3rd, and should have some factory stall.
