I'm going to do a 3/4 drop on my 1986 ranger this summer and i was wondering what size tires would fit and if i would have any problems with it
and what parts i'd need other than springs for the front.

thank you

u wont need springs, just get the drop beams and flip kit, and that will net u ur 3/4 inch drop.

if u like the ricer massive negative camber look then they will be fine, but if u want it to look right save for the drop beams and flip kit, u can get them for about 400 shipped to ur door

isn't their a way to fix the camber?

not really anything short of the drop beams, the amount ur camber will be off cant be corrected with anything aftermarket other then the drop beams, and with the drop beams u dont need drop springs

well they won't be in my range for atleast 6 or 7 years
so if anyone knows of either a good cheap drop
beam setup or a cheaper way to get a 3in drop on an 86 let me know

get the lowering springs and cut them. I did it on my 92 i got a 4 inch drop out of 2 inch springs. Some tell me its unsafe but I'm in the same boat as you with the student budget. I say you're good to cut as long as the springs still contact the seats.

if u do that u will be going through tires about every 5-10k miles, and the amount of tires u will chew up will be more then the drop beams woulda been.....

how bad is you're camber?

does anyone have pic of a 1st gen ranger with a 2/4 drop? i think it will look a little off but since a 3" is to expensive i'd like to see one with either a 2/4 or 2/3 drop

id just for the time bein do a 2" drop spring up front, and a spring under in the back.....that will give u about ur 2/3 drop, and will look pretty nice, then once u can afford drop beams and bags u already got the springs for the job.....

Yep yep... I agree with MHughes. Once you save up the next $300 or so (I would HIGHLY recommend getting used beams) then you will be set on a 5/7" drop.

I did the beams and flip kit... so once I get a little extra time and some money for the shocks... I'll be right at a 5/7 too! (it will probably be more like a 5/8 though, because of leaf spring sag.)

why cant u just get some camber adjusters and align it? Works when lifting suspensions..seems like it should work with a little 3/4 drop..

They will. I have the +/-2 degree bushings from Napa. I would look into getting more adjustment for doing a coil and beam drop.

What this guy is trying to figure out is what he can do for now. He wants to to lower it, but not get the beams just yet. There's nothing wrong with doing that.

So, cut coils and flipped shackles sounds like the thing to go with for now. The other stuff can wait until later when the money rolls in.
