3.0l to 4.0l Sohc Swap

Hello everyone,

This is my first post.

I have a 1997 Ranger Ext cab XL 3.0L 4X4 with 265k miles. Planed to rebuild the engine and transmission at the end of the year but i have the opportunity to get an engine, transmission and transfercase from a Ford Explorer.

Will a 4.0L Sohc Motor and Transmission (5R55E) from a 1998 Explorer 4x4 bolt into my Ranger?

Not sure if that even matters but the Explorer is an Eddie Bauer Edition.

Yeah, you will need the computer and wiring stuff too though.

It hasnt been pulled out from the explorer yet but ill make sure i keep all the wires and computers intact. !!
