Hi, this is my first post with this group. My truck has failed the kalifornia smog test every time for the last six or eight years. everytime I have successfuly repaired it just enough to pass. This time the test only shop failed it because of a evap system leak at the fuel filler hose. I bought a hose off e-bay and got it quick. In the mean time my cel started to come on and go off. jumpered diagnostic plug and got code 332. No or low flow from egr detected. Checked it out and determined egr solenoid shorted out and burned up. egr valve ok. dpfe was replaced 2 yrs ago and tested out. I ran out of time to recheck wiring but did find 12 volts at red wire on solenoid. It must of been coming from a circuit breaker because solenoid was a dead short. I cleared codes and drove truck home 7 miles cel engine light came on and went off samo. My question is the ecu now shorted or is it protected by a diode. I havent had a chance to get back on it but even if I have to get a used/reuilt ecu I will. Btw truck has 249,000 miles and very little problems. Any help with this problem will be appreciated.
