I just measured the diameter of my exhast before the muffler and it came out to 3". Is this correct? Who knows what the exact diameter of the pipe for a 3.0L is? I already ordered a new muffler and I think I'm screwed because I ordered it for a 3" exhaust and it just doesn't sound like 3" is correct. HELP QUICK PLEASE! Worst case scenario, I have to open up the package, fill out the return form and send it right back as soon as I get it...

Mine had 2.5" going into and thru cat's, but at the flange after the cats, it dropped to 2" the rest of the way. That was stock, now I have 2.5" all the way.

Just got my new exhaust arts from Summit... and yep, I screwed up. Mailing the package back and getting a new 2 INCH EXHAUST!!! Won't be making that mistake again.

Now I need to be absolutely sure before I order my new glasspack. Is it a 2" or 2.25" system on a stock 3.0L?

Just place a piece of string around the tube and mark the end on the longer piece where they over lap, measure that length and divide by 3.1416 to find the O.D. Best way of tellin what "you" have.

Hmmm, I thought you wrapped it around marked it and divide the length in half. thats probably how I came up with 3". Damn rookie mistakes coming back to haunt me! Thanks Mac!

Just sent the glasspack and clamps back to Summit, should be getting the correct size glasspack and clamps sometime this week or so. I'll try and make a vid doing before and after soundbites.

I have a thrush glass pack on my 98 3.0 bought all the stuff at autozone. I did a side exit before the rear tire. It sounds pretty good I think you will be happy.

I wasn't sure about the exit before the tire. I was thinking about it, but would it reduce backpressure too much? Anybody know? If not, I'll do it but if it does decrease backpressure too much I'll just run it through the regular rear side exit.

Anybody know if a side exit with a glasspack before the tire would reduce backpressure on my 98 3.0L too much or would it be fine?

Alot of people here run exhaust out the side before the tire with 2.25 exhaust tube with flowmaster, thrush, all sorts of mufflers with no problem. I don't see a problem running it out the side at all even if you went with 2.25 exhaust from the cat back.
