2wd to 4x4 sas

The day I bought it. The plan was to sas and 4x4 swap it. Most of the work is already done but I’ll post pictures of the build.

Rear axle build.

Front axle

Got all the 2wd stuff cut out.

Got the front axle under it.

Started on the track bar mount. Made a fish plate for the frame to spread the load. Made it longer because eventually I’ll go to coilovers.

Tie rod and track bar made. Track bar was tacked in just to make sure everything cleared and cycled properly.

On its weight. Had to figure out how the fix the coils.

Re drilled the coil cups and pushed them in 1.5 inches. Had to build a mount on the DS, passenger side I just welded a piece of angle to the track bar mount.

Made the single shear mount into double shear.

Threw the rear axle in. I used skyjacker soft ride 6” springs and jeep xj boomerang shackles.

Built some bump cans. Just 2” sch 80 pipe. I’ll be using 1.5” sch80 and generic bump pads.

Threw some good used 37x14 irocks on and pulled it out of the garage. Still has the 2wd trans in it. I’ll post the rest of the pictures later.

That looks to be built well! Looks like a good time and from a fellow Oregonian and you mentioning snow wheeling it looks like you're west of the Cascades and probably Eugene or north... My Ranger works great in the snow on 35's, we go out near Detroit or Stayton usually.

Thank you! I grew up snow wheeling the blues in eastern Oregon. But I’m north of you a bit in Hood River.

Yeah it’s all still attached. The only thing I chopped up was the engine crossmember. I will beef that back up. Also the bumper is welded in so it’s a good crossmember. When I get my duals done I’ll tie the radius arm mounts into that. This is the 3rd ranger I’ve built I know all about the frame struggles haha but thank you.

Deer season got in the way of forward progress. Now that it’s over I can get back to working on my junk.
