hey guys i have been researching selectable rear diff lockers for my 05 XLT 2.3 2WD.... im having a hard time finding one. if any of you have any suggestions or insight at all please post it or PM me, thanks alot.

Weld the spider gears up, save your money and take it easy on corners. 100% all time locked rear end.

Could also check for lockers for a 4x4 of the like. Just cause it's 4x4 doesn't mean it doesn't have the same rear axle under it.

I'm not sure if there is a selectable for the 7.5 but there are lunch box lockers available.

thats what i was having a hard time finding. so whats a lunch box locker?

A LL is a locker that engages when your main drive tire starts to slip to basically give you posi-lock, where a regular air locker or any other of the like, only engages when you engage it by a switch or is engaged all the time. Lunchbox Lockers (LL's) are basically part time lockers. I've used them before, but only in the front axle. Never liked the idea of putting one in the rear axle myself.

thanks for the explanation on LL, would it do well on the street taking corners and stuff? i need this truck for work still but i need a locker or something cause i live in the snow and need some more traction if im gona keep this truck.

Yes, it will do fine on streets with cornering. They are designed to disengage around corners so you don't get the chirping from the wheels trying to keep up with each other around corners.

awesome thanks i will check into those. thanks alot. i still really want a selectable so if anyone knows where to find one let me know thanks. or if there are anymore suggestions that would be great.

YA! ARB is what i want but i dont think they make it in a 7.5 i only see it for the 8.8. maybe im not seeing the right page tho..

With a 7.5" rear end, you're pretty limited. And a lock-rite is not a very nice street locker. It WILL chirp, clunk, and bark around corners. I had one, it wasn't fun. What's your budget? I suggest looking into an 8.8" rear end with a trac-lok. Run that while you save your funds and then step up to a selectable locker.

thanks guys your alot of help

ok so what is all involved on getting an 8.8, is that a total axle swap? thats kinda what my thought was to. im a college kid so im limited on funds but when i do this im gona invest the money that i need to so that its done right.

Update

hey guys just wanted to update this, i got the 8.8 rearend for about 350 in a junkyard and put in an auburn ECTD locker with 4.10 gears and 32.5 tires on 10x15 wheels, this is a great setup! it did drop my gas mileage to about 18 tho. anyway just though i would let you know i love this and would recomend it to anyone!

I like my lock-rite. It's street manners are WELL worth the off-road TRACTION.
