Okay I have a 4wd Bronco II that has a crappy frame, so Im looking to get a new truck.

My question today is what would be needed to convert a 2wd Ranger into a 4wd? Obviously the front axle/driveshaft, as well as the transfer case... Is that it? Are all the mounting points, ect there on a 2wd?

What sorta front end does a 2wd ranger have?

Craigslist in my area has been quite scarce with 4x4 rbvs....

As detailed a response as possible would be fantastic. Thanks.

This question doesn't come up enough...

It can and has been done but IMO it's way more work than it's worth. The front cross-member has to be changed, yeah the one that wedged between the frame rails and riveted in place.

Don't forget a 4wd tranny.

Well it could be worth it if the vehicle holds sentemental value... I may end up converting my friends 2wd to 4x4 because I can get alot of wrecked 4x4 rangers cheap and easy. vs buying a 4x4.

Look around for an Explorer. Plenty in the Interior here for relatively cheap. AND they're 4.0 rigs to boot! Just keep an eye out for a 5speed one, or an auto one and convert. Unless you're really dead-set on a pickup, in which case... money talks. Anything is for sale for the right price... :icon_idea:
