Does anyone have any custom, or non-custom towhooks for their 2wd rangers that didn't come equipped with them. I would like to make some or get some made for my ranger because it currently doesn't have any safe, strong ways of attaching a tow rope to the front. This is my bumper/valence setup and I realize my driving lights might be in the way of potential tow hooks. Please post pics of any custom towhooks you have for the front of your ranger.

Put the front license plate on a hinge and use a front receiver hitch?

I know someone used to make one to fit our trucks, but I'm not sure if it's in production anymore.

I thought about a front receiver hitch, but I don't really wanna spend that much money just for a front tow point, although I might eventually get one. I currently just wrap my tow strap around the bumper in between the bottom of the grill and the opening where the valence is. This probably isnt very strong and its a real pain the @$$ trying to get the strap wrapped around. Will that write up for 93-97 work for my 2000, or are the front frames and bumper mounts different which would require me to get the 4x4 cross member as mentioned above?

I took the tow hooks off a 05 f250 and bolted them to frame work great on b2 but like you said the lights will have to go or be moved

yea im not too worried about the lights, they were 17 bucks from wolly world and I can always move them or take them off. Did you put the 250 hooks on a ranger like mine or a bronco II? Sorry I see now it says b2, my bad.

Can someone tell me more about installing a 4x4 crossmember. Is it located right behind the bumper and is it something I could easily pull from a junkyard. I studied my bumper mounts and frame today and I don't see anyway you could use normal towhooks with my current setup, so the 4wd crossmember might be the way to go.

you gota cut both yours and the 4x4's crossmember and weld the 4x4 back on yours, then just attach the bumper

this should help

After doing some more research Ive, decided I'll probably order a front receiver hitch from summit or eventually fabricate one out of a rear hitch after I get a welder and get good enough at welding. One question, if I ever do a sas and convert to 4wd, (I hope this will happen one day but it all depends), the front receiver hitch won't be in the way of anything will it?

yea i dont think it would be in the way of anything. sorry to change the subject, but would a borg warner 1354 bolt up to my transmission and not be in the way of anthing? i realize ill need a new drive shaft

did you find a front hitch on summit? I have been looking for some time now and have yet to find one for a 2000 ranger 2 or 4wd. let us know if you've stumbled on to something.

i picked up a pair of ten dollar 10,000# reese branded hooks from tractor supply and drilled a couple of holes in the frame rail, and bolted them on.
