We need to figure out HOW many trucks we want to do. We're just throwing stuff out to see what sticks.

I'd love to buy another truck to do this, but I'm lacking the cash to do so AND the space to stash and/or work on it!

It's a year away. We have plenty of time to do it.

I thought of another theme today: paint it yellow (ala the Baywatch ones) and call it the "Rescue Ranger!"

Just remember before it's made too awesome that the race promoters reserve the right to purchase it for $500 from the team, additionally, the audience (or was it other teams?) can vote it to be destroyed before you can even finish the race.

17" Mustang take off wheels would be pretty good, could wrap them in 245/45R17 tires for good handling and grip (and neither would count toward the $500)

Another option instead of swapping an 8.8 in would be to just put in a spool or weld the 7.5 diff to save some green.

The reason I mentioned the 8.8 was for the rear disc brakes while attaining the 4.11 gear ratio of the 99 +up rangers. THe 17 inch wheels is an awesome idea because MM&FF did an article on wheel size vs performance and anything above 17 is just show. 17inches is where the lateral g gains stop.

So someone mentions a chucknorris truck, but to do that you would have to pull a truck right outta the crusher(after its crushed) then stick teh boot prints on it and drag around the track. So it looks like chuck norris really kicked it.

If I or anybody could find one for under $500, I think the ideal truck to race would be a 2.3/M5OD 2WD extended cab.

The race is 11.5 months away. We need to get cracking.

Fine. You find a truck in Florida, drag it up to CT.

We need something with 2WD & a M5OD. Engine-wise, a bulletproof 2.3 would be my first choice with a 4.0 being second. This truck is going to be durable, but doesn't have to have wicked horsepower. I trust the M5 more than the auto.
