4x4 works but sounds dry in the front diff. When I’m cruising around in 2wd with the warlockers “free”.

I want my transmission shop to adjust the bands on my trans and check the front for fluid/damage in the front end. I could probably do all of this myself but it’s time for a pro to tell me what kind of a mess I’m getting in to with this truck.

any advice or criticisms welcome

You can check to see if the gear oil level is good by removing the fill plug on the differential. It should be right hat the bottom of the fill plug. If not, you can stick a piece of wire in there to get an idea where the fluid level is, if there is any. Beyond that, you would need to open up the differential to look at the condition inside. Cost wise, it would probably be cheaper to swap the whole axle beam than to repair the damage on the one you have. Just make sure the gear ratio on the new to you axle is the same as your rear axle. And I would try to find a replacement in a junk yard.
