You guys were so right! .22LR not near big enuf to take 4wheelin' ...So I got the TAURUS JUDGE PUBLIC DEFENDER .45/.410 SHOT SHELL .It shoots .45 long colt (just like the old west:D) and .410 shot shells too! pick it this afternoon baby!

My buddy just won a judge in a raffle. It sweet. Try trap shootin with it, its a blast!

While I like the concept, unless it's the new version that takes the more powerful shells, it's useless with the .410 as a personal defense weapon. .410 out of short barrel picks up so little velocity and has so little power it will barely penetrate skin. I'm not saying I want to get shot by it, but it's 5x more useful loaded up with the .45, which will put a hurt down on somebody. Using a .410 with them, it also has the tendency to "wad" the lead together by the time it leaves the barrel, so it's all one big malformed hunk flying unpredictably through the air. I'm not trying to be negative and talk down your purchase, but I do want you to know that if somebody is on meth and you shoot them with the .410, it probably won't incapacitate them, but it for damn sure will scare the heck out of them and the wound it leaves will look MUCH worse than it is, and put them in panic mode.

I've heard that with the short barrel, the shot spreds out quite a bit. Aim for the face and he/her won't find you. They come with the 3" chamber also. five .36 cal balls in the OOO buck round.

Lead off with the shot, and then follow up with the .45's if needed.

Didn't you learn from the last thread on this matter?

But anyway, on the matter of the Judge, unless you carry a man-purse, they are not all that easy to hide - too big of a chunk of shooting iron, IMHO. Might be fun to play around with though and would probably work for a truck gun.

With a .410 though you're looking at like a 10' diameter pattern at 10' from the muzzle because of the stubby barrel length. Unless you're having a shoot-out in a phone booth, .410 is about worthless for defense unless you use slugs or buckshot.

Shoot out in a phone booth? Sounds like an awesome Monty Python skit.

A JUDGE Weapon !?!?So........you got a lotta lions, tigers, and bears in your neck of the woods?? Just kidding.......

Why do you need that while wheelin? I've never had any need for any kind of weapon on the trails. It's typically been the safest, friendliest place to be.

He wants it so when someone shines a spotlight on him and yells at him for wheeling on private property without permission he can shoot them. All because of a youtube vid he saw.

Well, they were never designed for CC or large game. In the house/truck would be a perfect place, short range. It's a compromise like so many things in life. Some people swear that a 20" barrel 12 ga is better. Well, get up in the middle of the night, it's dark and you have to walk down a hallway with doors on either side. What's easier to swing, a pistol or long gun? This vidio is with the longer 3" 000 loads but sure does the job at that distance. Sure got my vote!

I'd personally am not to fond of the Judge. Too heavy and bulky for my needs, but to others, it will work. Right now, I'm currently waiting for the S&W Governor. Same thing as the Judge, but it is lighter, slightly smaller, and holds 6 rounds (45ACP, 45Colt, or .410 shell). Which makes it more ideal for me as a trail gun. Perfect for those occusions when I need to take out a venmous snake or protect my butt from a couger when I'm hunting. For urban, city, and traveling, I carry the S&W Bodyguard 380ACP. Compact and slim for easy conceilment.
