2021 Ford Ranger Transmission Slips

2019 SuperCab. I've owned it since Sept 2019, that's about 1640 days.
The temp's dropped near zero the other day.
The transmission slipped for the 1st few gears.
What a piece of shit
Gonna trade it on a Toyota
Satire

The "funny" thing is that Chevy is using the same transmission and from what I understand, is having very little to no problems with it. So, it isn't the transmission, it's how Ford programed it to operate.

Saw this today. Guess Chevy is also battling the 10 speeds

Pulled out of a parking lot this morning in the freezing cold and the transmission in my 2021 Ford Ranger slipped for a brief moment and then engaged. Didn't do it again during the 1.5 hour drive home.

Just decided to do a search and quickly realized that this is an issue with the Ford 10-speed transmission. Saw links to other discussion online about this happening in the new Rangers.

That states:

"Ford’s 10-speed transmissions are the subject of a new class action lawsuit that alleges defects such as gear slipping, harsh shifting and acceleration problems. Though 2019—2022 Ford Ranger pickups are not included in the lawsuit, consumer complaints reveal that the pickup trucks experience similar issues. "

If anyone with a 2019 or newer Ford Ranger experiences transmission slippage, please post here.
My Ranger started slipping when I put in gear and in the lower gears This week. Just rolled over 100,000 miles. I think Ford should issue a recall for this issue

they won't on a truck with 100k miles. even nissan with its 5 year/100k warranty won't do anything once you pass that 100k number

It depends on how bad the issue is, among other factors. Nissan expanded their warranty on their CVT transmissions to 10 years because they are so prone to failure. I don't think the mileage changed, just the years.

I did hear that. Is it 10 years/100k on that trans for certain vehicles?

Thats exactly why i say no to cvt

10 years, yes. I believe you are correct on the miles.

From what I have read about CVT transmissions in automobiles in general, all of them are a nope. The concept is great on paper but reliability hasn't hit the mark yet.

My 2021 Ranger XLT Cre-Cab FX-4 is in a ford shop now getting the transmission replaced. 81,000 miles, never a heavy trailer. Jumped into 3rd, between 40-50 mph and a steady level road it consistently slightly jumped. BB to 85,000 miles, thank goodness. Ford place initially didn't feel the problem. Told them I'd be glad to drive it and show the issues. They drove again and felt it. This Ford place seems to be trust worthy.

2021 Lariat, mine slips every once in awhile. Usually catches me when I pull into an intersection waiting to turn left and then when I go hit the gas, nothing, it leaves me sitting there for a second or two before it kicks in.

20 years after the last Ford C6 transmission was built and Ford still can't build a quality transmission to match it.

My buddy's 2021 F350 is in the shop getting a new transmission right now. 97,000 miles and not covered under warranty. $13,000

I'm going to keep my old junk forever I guess.

Ya, it makes me pretty nervous. There's no way I could come up with $13,000 for a transmission. I could build up an older Ranger for $13,000.

After being part of the Sport Trac world for 16 years my opinion is that Ford builds great engines but sh*t transmissions.

Ford? I though the 10 speed was made by Aisin?

I don't really keep up with the new trucks - it's the 10R80 (joint mfg by Ford and GM, with help from Allison)?

at least per wiki the 10R80 is what was used in '19-current rangers....
