I wonder if advance adaptors makes a kit to put a C6 in the newer stuff?

Ford?I though the 10 speed was made by Aisin?
I don't really keep up with the new trucks - it's the 10R80 (joint mfg by Ford and GM, with help from Allison)?
at least per wiki the 10R80 is what was used in '19-current rangers....

Try changing the DPFE sensor first. It's not hard or expensive to do. It seems as they age that moisture gets in and mucks up the signal to the transmission.Just dropped off my 2021 Ford Ranger for transmission issues - slipping and lurching when coming up to speed, as well as hard downshifts at times when coming to a stop. Bought it new in April 2021, and it always seemed to run in higher gears than it should, and I'd resort to dropping into sport mode in the hills where I live. When I did my research in 2021 before buying, I could find no reports of issues, but now that I am just now looking again, this is very concerning to me. Thank God I purchased the extended warranty until 2028. Once fixed, I may have to trade it in for something else.

Mine has been okay so far but I might change it as a preventative since I'm closing in on 100k.
these 10 speeds are easier to work on than say a turbo 700 or 4l60 or 4r100 imo
never really seen this. the cdf drum bushing walk and "trash can" are key fail issues on the bigger ones from early on.
this was a ripoff off the zf 8hp kinda like the 3.5 ecoboost was from nissan.
i know some of the guys from allison that were sent to develop this with ford, one of them refused to relocate to michigan and started his own non profit which is awesome.
there is allot here with these units, and they hold ridiculous amounts of power that these modern powertrains can make... in towing situations that even the mighty c6 will fail.
yes they violate the kiss principal, but not like the 5r55 does. those are junk in terms of power holding capacity. the c4 fmx and c6 and turbo 400 are all awesome and simple designs which were considered voodoo witchcraft at one point.

failures on the smaller units are varied from what i have seen as well compared to the larger units.
that said, gm and ford definitely intentionally designed fail into these units. it is patently and absurdly obvious with the aftermarket solutions. this....has me questioning whether i will ever spend another dollar with them after i turn in my current powerboost.
the good, we know how to make bulletproof 10 speeds.....the bad. so does ford.
they deserve to die for what they are doing to dealers and customers.
Thanks, @JohnnyO, I am no mechanic and would not want to void my warranty. Do you know if there would be an issue with Ford if I did this?Try changing the DPFE sensor first. It's not hard or expensive to do. It seems as they age that moisture gets in and mucks up the signal to the transmission.

And I am only at about 43k miles...Thanks, @JohnnyO, I am no mechanic and would not want to void my warranty. Do you know if there would be an issue with Ford if I did this?
No. Get a genuine Ford part from the dealer or Rock Auto and not a repro unit. Thanks, @JohnnyO, I am no mechanic and would not want to void my warranty. Do you know if there would be an issue with Ford if I did this?
Ok. I should have mentioned that I got my truck back yesterday afternoon, and they said they could not replicate the issue (of course) and that everything looked good: no codes, fluid condition and level looked good, etc. If that DPFE sensor was the culprit, would it not throw off some code they would see?No. Get a genuine Ford part from the dealer or Rock Auto and not a repro unit.
I remembered, this is the place that says they have fixed all the issues with the 10R80. They offer whole transmissions, torque converters, rebuild kits, valve bodies, and parts.

I doesn’t necessarily throw a code when it goes bad.Ok.
