2019 Ranger Ecoboost Oil Change Interval

If the oil level rises you could always just poke a hole in the oil pan to counter the effect...

I guess there is a TSB for a reprogram for fuel smell in oil. I guess some of them are a little too rich during warmup.

One of my tractors had kerosene as a fuel option. There is a check plug just above the oil level to drain off any kerosene that accumulates in the crankcase before you start for the day.

Just slam the suspension and let it hit a curb or two. No more oil problem.

I think this would eliminate that pesky increase

I'm having the fuel in oil smell now. The oil level looks ok so I'll keep an eye on it for the trip home. Johnny O suggested oil anylisis, which might not be a bad idea. I wasn't looking to change the oil this soon but it would be nice to have an independent lab oil analysis results to show if I need to take the truck to the dealer for them to take a look.

The truck is still mechanically stock, so if there is an issue, warranty coverage shouldn't be a problem. I'll have about 1,100 miles and about 23 hours of driving to get home to see what happens. I haven't done anything about getting a catch can, so it is definitely not the cause if something is up.

How many miles on your truck?

12763 miles

Every 5th gen Ranger that's had the fuel in oil issue mentioned that I've read about had low miles.. like less than 3000 miles.

Lets hope that holds true and yours is ok.

I don't own one of the new fancy rangers BUT.. turbos I've owned in the past sheared the oil down really quickly. I initially thought a 5k interval would of been alright... but even with rotella t6 when I'd drain it out I was really less than impressed with how much viscosity was left. I went to 3750 mile intervals and was much happier with how oily the oil was when it came out.

The issue seemed to go away as we drove back north. I wonder if it was a heat and humidity issue due to being in the South. The water temp seemed normal the whole time and fuel consumption stayed about the same.

I’m going to do an oil change and send in a sample the Blackstone just to be sure.

If nothing else, it will be interesting to see how the oil held up to driving nearly 23 hours straight for 1,300+ miles down and 26 hours straight for the 1,300+ miles coming back.

We only stopped for food, bathroom breaks, and to refuel.

Turbos are hard on oil from everything I’ve read and this particular trip probably ran the Mobile 1 Synthetic pretty hard. I tried the Truck/SUV blend this last change.

The color still looks pretty good. A light brown color. The oil only has about 3,500 miles on it since it was changed in May. So, we’ll see.

I received the report from Blackstone. They say everything looks to be ok. The fuel in the oil from the sample was considered within acceptable limits.

I love the little love notes Blackstone gives you...
